Installation

Dybs.it is a desktop workspace for running the BMad Method with AI coding agents. This guide takes you from download to an opened project.

What you need

Before opening Dybs.it, prepare:

1. A project. Point Dybs.it at the project root, the folder that contains _bmad/, not _bmad/ itself. If the BMad Method is not installed there yet, run npx bmad-method install in that folder first.

   Next release: you will not need to do this yourself. Getting Started runs the installer inside Dybs.it and opens the project when it finishes, so an empty project folder is enough to begin.

2. At least one supported AI coding CLI. Dybs.it launches the CLI installed on your computer; it does not include an AI model or provider subscription. Review the supported providers and verify your chosen CLI works in a normal terminal.

3. Git, if you want branch and worktree support. Your project must already be a Git repository for those capabilities to apply.

New to BMad? You do not need to understand every workflow before opening the app. Start with What is the BMad Method?, then follow Your first project.

Download and install

Dybs.it is not publicly downloadable yet. Installers are published when the app goes live. Until then there is nothing to download, and this page has no link to send you to, use it to get the pieces above ready.

Once installers are published:

1. Download the installer for your operating system and computer architecture.
2. Install and launch Dybs.it as you would any desktop application.

The files offered with a release are the authoritative list of platforms available for that release. If your platform is not listed, there is no supported installer for it in that release.

Open a project

1. Select Open Project on the welcome screen, or use File → Open Project.
2. Choose the project root, the folder containing _bmad/, not _bmad/ itself.
3. Wait for Dybs.it to scan the project.

After loading, the sidebar gives you access to the project's epics, stories, documents, agents, and history. The terminal remains available while you move between views.

You can open multiple projects. Dybs.it opens each one in its own window and keeps its project context separate.

Check your environment

If Dybs.it reports that a required tool is unavailable, open Settings and use the environment diagnostics. Follow the suggested fix or install the missing tool, then run the check again. A successful check means Dybs.it can invoke that tool; it does not replace the provider's own login or subscription requirements.

Troubleshooting

Symptom	What to check
No epics or stories appear	Confirm you selected the project root and that its BMad artifacts have been created. A newly installed _bmad/ directory alone may not contain planning or implementation artifacts yet.
An AI provider cannot be launched	Run that provider's CLI in your normal terminal, complete its sign-in flow, and confirm it is available to Dybs.it in Settings.
Git actions are unavailable	Confirm the project is a Git repository and Git is installed. Some Git surfaces may not be present in every release.
A document is missing	Create the relevant BMad artifact first, then refresh the project. Dybs.it displays project files; it does not invent missing planning documents.
